Midnight Confessions

I’m wary of the night

Not for any reason
I can name
It’s simply that it’s there

I dread the fading light

Hidden in my fortress
Safe from harm
Who’ll save me from myself

I fear the loss of sight

Eyes open yet sightless
Falling down
The chasm gaping wide

I wish I may, I might

So weary yet sleepless
Comes the dawn
In cycles spinning round

I’m wary of the night
